Alana Questell

Alana Questell’s collage brings to life bright dreamscapes using vintage imagery. People and animals wander over mountainsides and through lush flowerbeds, but there is a sense that her universe is subtly in reverse. Moons are in place of suns, and animals are the dominant creatures, most of the time larger in scale, and much more at ease in their environments than their human cohabitants.

Ariane Fairlie profiled Alana Questell in an Artist Portfolio in Kolaj Magazine Issue 12. She wrote:

The spaces Questell creates are serene and airy, but there are undertones of servitude and struggle. In Feeding Time, men carry large forget-me-nots on their backs to serve a crowned hummingbird; and in Growth Spurt, a man emerges from a bejeweled chalice, hoisting up very heavy pink marigolds as an offering.

Alana Questell lives and works in Orlando, Florida. Visit her website, HERE, to learn more about her and her work.
