COLLAGE ON VIEW
Alone, Together
at PULP Holyoke in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA
8 June-7 July 2024
“Alone, Together” is a two-person exhibition with paintings by Hudson, New York artist Kathy Osborn and paintings and sculpture by Barre, Vermont artist Hannah Morris.
Both artists have developed distinct steps to create their paintings. “Alone, Together” explores the spaces we inhabit–both domestic and public, private and shared.
Hannah Morris (b. 1974) constructs under-paintings out of collaged elements found from magazines. “I deconstruct and re-construct figures and scenes from magazines to recontextualize, curate and rearrange cultural material into narratives set in ordinary scenes.
“Using paint as my editing tool, I work on top of the collages to flatten and distill the scene down to its focal point, creating a united scene.” Morris holds at BA from Bates College and an MA from Stellenbosch University. She has had solo exhibitions at Northern Daughters Gallery, Steve Turner Gallery and the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center.
