Vermont State University faculty member Bryce Berggren is exhibiting mixed-media art to start the 2025 fall semester. The artist was born in Cleveland, Ohio, September of 1973. He traveled with his family as a boy, moving from Ohio to Olean, New York to Steilacoom, Washington. Bryce credits these early childhood explorations for deeply influencing his artwork and life with a love of adventure, independence, and travel. He attended Parsons School of Design and graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art.

After graduation, Bryce traveled extensively in the American West, seeking adventure, the great vistas of the Hudson River School and the Luminist painters. In this transitional period Bryce worked as a wood turner, snowmaker, letter carrier and painted in his spare time. He credits these work experiences as giving his artwork a competent level of craftsmanship and some great life experiences to draw from.
