COLLAGE ON VIEW Open House at the Memory Palaceat the Baton Rouge Gallery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA through 26 October 2023. Jacqueline Dee Parker writes, "Building a memory palace is a way of recalling what one wishes not to forget. In the context of my work, it serves as a metaphor for interrogation of remembered spaces. Source materials include antique and vintage papers from music, literature and other ephemera. These chosen fragments of lived experience reference a personal lineage as well as my esteem for the analog culture that is rapidly dematerializing from all human life." MORE |

FROM THE ARTIST DIRECTORY Surreal & AbstractNovi, Michigan, USA. Peter Manschot is currently producing images in the Surreal and Abstract genres that incorporate copier experimentation, and photography techniques, augmented with art mixed media techniques. Some of the copier experiments go back to teaching high school, where he was using a copier that could only do ONE color at a time. These were saved and he found them not to have changed in color in over 30 years. They became the foundation for the first phase of abstract compositions. He later evolved into using his current multi-copier to create new experiments–textural and photo. MORE |

COLLAGE BOOKS Punti di Vista e di PartenzaThe book explores the variety of practices in which Luc Fierens has tried his hand in forty years of activity, proposing a path through the collagist’s different creative periods. The book showcases Fierens’ earlier works from the eighties and nineties, which were chaotic, inspired by surrealist and pop styles and characterized by strong critical content. Currently, his collages are less chaotic, with a perfect mastery of the tear and with less excited tones, but still always committed at an ideological level. MORE |

FROM THE ARTIST DIRECTORY Exploring grief through found objects & cut edgesLorane, Oregon, USA. By creating collages, Beth I. Robinson explores grief through found objects and cut edges. She writes, "Often in my work fragments, ghosts of materials, soft pencil lines, or patterns can be seen. Capturing these momentary voices accentuates the missing, forgotten, or things often left unspoken beneath the surface of loss. At eight years old, my grandfather died. The adults around me were heartbroken. In their awkwardness, they gave me glue, magazines, and adult size scissors. I was fully present in those sobering moments of youthful innocence about death and refused to lose my sense of wonder. This art practice cultivated an outlet for the unique conflict loss prompts."
