Keith Maddy
Keith Maddy STATEMENT My collages are complex exercises in precision, detail, composition, colour, movement and a sense of joy and playfulness. I use predominantly vintage materials for their colour palette, line, paper quality and sense of nostalgia. Collages are their own medium, but I often see mine as drawings, paintings, and poetry utilizing paper and glue. BIO Keith Maddy is a native of Massachusetts, born in 1964, who works out of the historic Fenway Studios in Boston. He holds a BFA with distinction from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is the recipient of several Massachusetts Local Cultural Councils Visual Arts grants. He was awarded 2nd Place for Best Show in an alternative Boston gallery by the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) in 2003. He exhibits extensively throughout New England and the greater Boston area, including The Boston Center for the Arts, City Hall, Logan International Airport, Hynes Convention Center, Mills Gallery, The Distillery, Somerville Museum, Harvard University, Tufts University, Attleboro Museum, Danforth Museum, William Scott Gallery Provincetown, Nahcotta in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Vermont College, and Kentler Drawing Space Brooklyn. Keith teaches collage workshops in the greater Boston area, has several of his collages featured in Mixed Media Collage by Quarry Books, 2007; 100 Boston Artists by Schiffer Publishing, 2012; and Cloth Paper Scissors by Interweave Press, November/December 2013.
