STATEMENT

A native of New Orleans, I draw the great majority of my artistic inspiration from the city I call my home. In my most recent phase as an artist, I start by creating ink drawings of the city’s vernacular. After scanning and printing the drawings, I cut up the prints into smaller pieces and collage them into new imagery. With the leftover paper, I further collage it into a surface upon which I draw new images using ink. The images that I create organically reflect the imperfect nature of our city streets while capturing our unique urban landscape. It is the greatest representation I have been able to produce in terms of the joy and sorrow that we all experience by living here.
