Collage Stolen from Exhibition in Vancouver

Portrait of the Future King (installation view) by Bracken Hanuse Corlett

We know collage is “hot” right now, but here’s a story about a collage work that is “hot” for different reasons.

Vancouver’s daily newspaper The Province reported that a collage was stolen in broad daylight, between Noon and 2PM on Wednesday, 23 October, from UNIT/PITT Projects in downtown Vancouver.

The work, Portrait of the Future King (24″x30″) by Bracken Hanuse Cornett, was part of the “God Save the Queen” show.

According to The Province‘s article, Keith Higgins, UNIT/PITT Projects’ Executive Director, said the work is valued at $1,000 and that the artist had lined up a buyer for the work after the show closed. Higgins said he thinks the theft was by a fan of Cornett’s work.

UNIT/PITT Projects’ website has a plea for the return of the work saying:  If you see the work, or are approached by someone wanting to sell it, please let us and the Vancouver Police Department know. (Case number is VA13-175523.) We will also accept return of the work, no questions asked.
