LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

As a big fan of William Burroughs, Dada, Surrealism and experimental tape music, Ewan Aparicio began applying the cut up techniques in collages to his own work. He’s interested in the juxtaposition of images to assess our perceptions of appearance, decay, destruction and death.

Ewan lives in London and has been making collage for about 6 years or so. He works primarily with “old magazines, photocopier distortion and card, as well as the occasional use of paint and other mixed media. Recent works have utilised sources ranging from war, erotica, the occult and anatomy.”

You can see more of Ewan’s work on his Kolaj Magazine Artist Directory page and on his Tumblr page.

An Artist Portfolio about Ewan Aparicio appeared in Issue Eight. This is some of what Kolaj contributor Ariane Fairlie had to say:

Ewan Aparicio makes some pretty loaded collage. His colour palette is vibrant and he uses many active textures and patterns. There are normally two to three characters getting up to the usual mischief: space colonies, military men observing and being observed, and a Planet of the Apes scene. Aparicio’s approach is comical and he is very design savvy.
