Fabrice Jac as part of “Papiers Mixés”, Lyon

Fabrice Jac "Diversions" series

29 March-26 April 2014
Opening reception: Saturday, March 29, 6-10PM

“Papiers Mixés” (collage techniques) at La Coopérative du Zèbre, Lyon, France

Fabrice Jac’s presentation is a “reappropriation”. He took 30 8″x6″ postcards from exhibitions of contemporary artists and created 21 collages.

Fabrice Jac says about himself and the work: “After a quick visit to the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon in the late 1980s, I launched headlong into the world of music (programmer, art director, manager …), only to return 15 years later still occupied by painting, shutting myself in my studio for seven years.

Since June 2012, I have presented my work in various exhibition spaces using the techniques of collage: reappropriation, recycling, crossing, mixing. I also use: paint, ink, Posca, pencil crayons, drawing on various media: canvas, wood, metal, cardboard  and finishing with Golden varnish (matte).

My accomplishments are the result of telescoping internal disorder and a graphic and methodological rigor. It is Dadaistic work lying between Expressionism and Suprematism.

“I don’t represent, I use representations to represent! ”

The exhibition also presents collage work by Clara Cuzin, Flore Kunst, Krine, and Éssaimé.
