Bill Noir is our featured In the Studio artist in Issue 7 of Kolaj. Bill Noir’s studio is in Strasbourg, France.
“I explore different styles, mostly using old papers, vintage magazines and books. These materials give me the textures, images and typographic forms. Then, I create geometrical compositions by playing with gaps and leftover paper,” says Bill Noir.
“My studio’s like a disordered brain, a playground for improvisations. All my books and collage materials are around me. It’s a good way to dip into diverse possibilities, narrative suggestions. Sometimes, I play for many hours before fixing my compositions. Each time, I feel like a stranger to myself.”
