He started making collage in order to create vivid and complete visual experience. Crunelle is featured in Collage Artist Trading Cards Pack 7.

Packs of Collage Artist Trading Cards are a tool for discovering contemporary, fine art collage. Each card is a full colour, 5.5” x 3.5” postcard with rounded corners. An example of an artist’s work is on the front of the card and the artist’s public contact information is on the back.

We asked Crunelle some questions about his work.

What brought you to collage?

David-Crunelle-collage-artist-trading-cardI started making collage in order to create vivid and complete visual experience. The goal was to give “a lot to see” to the audience, and to make them dive into the composition. While many art pieces only require a few seconds to be analyzed, I try to create content that has to be discovered over time and several observations.

Your collage, Psychedelic Constructivism 04, is included in Collage Artist Trading Cards Pack 7. How did it come about?

The “Psychedelic Constructivism” series was made during a weaning period of 3 months. The idea was to create giant collages composed with thousand of pieces, characters built in a psychedelic form showing elements of past experiences and influences. The piece 04 shows these influences in a very direct way–from music to video games to comic books and drugs taken during the teenagers years. [It’s made of] cut outs on cardboard or wood panels, with acrylic, varnish and epoxy resin.

What are you working on these days?

I am working on bigger, wider pieces (80″x48″) on wood panel that are composed of more than 6000 pieces of cut outs.
