Carlos Quinto Kemm: For Democracy’s Sake

at Exhibit/208 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
11 October-2 November 2024

Carlos Quinto Kemm’s “For Democracy’s Sake” consists of eight collage works born out of the chaos of the current political situation in the United States.

The artist writes about the work:
As an artist, my journey has taken unexpected turns, revealing the profound impact that images can have in addressing societal issues. While I never set out to create political or social justice art, the realities of racial injustice and bigotry have infiltrated my creative process.

Hell Hounds…Again by Carlos Quinto Kemm

It reflects my desire for a world free from hate and intolerance. The struggles we face today echo the past, and I remain hopeful that our democracy will uphold justice for all. I envision a future illuminated by the guiding light of enlightenment, reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty. May our collective prayers and dreams serve as lanterns, rising towards a brighter tomorrow.
