Stefano Carbone: Miradas

at Apulian Tales in Bari, Italy
22 March-26 April 2026

Accompanying the Bari International Film Festival (Bif&st). this exhibition presents a series of collages that reinterpret the visual legacy of some of the most iconic figures of twentieth-century cinema, including Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, James Dean, and Elizabeth Taylor. Over time, these figures have become powerful cultural symbols and, for many, true icons also admired within the LGBTQIA+ community. Through fragmentation and recomposition, the works explore the tension between the construction of cinematic myths and the personal vulnerability often hidden behind public fame.

The collages are created using recycled materials, particularly advertising posters collected from the streets. Through tearing, layering, and recomposition, these discarded materials are transformed into new visual landscapes, turning collage into a gesture of recovery and transformation.
