Felicita Felli Maynard and Bunny Chionesu: Unearthing
at Staple Goods, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA

“Unearthing” is a two-person show spotlighting recent sculptural works by Felicita Felli Maynard and by Bunny Chionesu. Both artists work with assemblage, materials found in the natural world, materials found in the industrial world, the grid, the grid’s disruptions, and the body.
Felicita Felli Maynard is a multidisciplinary artist, community archivist, and educator from Brooklyn, New York, living in New Orleans. Maynard works across photography, sculpture, sound, and installation. Their work explores the rituals and practices of survival and prosperity among descendants of the African Diaspora. They are interested in how African descendants and the landscapes they inhabit produce and sustain other worlds and realities through imaginative practices.
Bunny Chionesu has lived and worked in New Orleans for fourteen years, with roots here, Chicago, and islands. This is Chionesu’s second time showing at Staple Goods after a solo show, “Nameless Feeling”, in 2022 under the name Berhane Tendai Cole.
