Kolaj Goes to Expozine

expozine2015poster

Once a year, hundreds of small presses, artists, and ‘zine-makers gather in a Montreal church basement for a weekend of art, literature, and publishing. One of the largest small press, comic, and ‘zine fairs in North America, Expozine brings together nearly 300 creators of print working in both English and French: books, ‘zines, graphic novels and more. Expozine is part of the heart and soul of Montreal’s art scene, accessible, democratic, and free to anyone who wants to spend an afternoon (or two) perusing the enormous creative output the city has to offer.

couv_500If you can make it, be sure to seek out Librairie Formats which, among dozens of titles, will have books from Mékanik copulaire, an independent publishing house and an association based in Strasbourg, France. Since 2010, they have been publishing and promoting fanzines, graphzines and books. Graphzine focuses on contemporary collage and collagists with portraits of B.D. Graft, Dennis Busch, Michael DeSutter, Bill Noir & Flore Kunst, Armand Brac, Beatrice Squitti, Beto Pietro, Isabel Reitemeyer, Jeannie Abert, Scott Lachlan Dickson, Mikill Skugga, Marko Köppe, Jorge Chamorro, Andrew McGranahan, Paul Wilson. Graphzine collage Mékanik copulaire #8 was released in September 2015, is 92 pages and has a handmade binding and a screenprinted cover. It’s a beautiful little book.

Kolaj will also be at Expozine. We are happy to be bringing issues of the magazine and Collage Artist Trading Cards. Stop by and pick up a back issue or subscribe to the magazine.

We will also be looking for publications that feature collage to review in future issues of the magazine. If you have such a publication, feel free to stop by our table and share it with us.
