Mark Murphy: Remember the Future

at Light Night Worcester in Worcester, United Kingdom
19-21 October 2021, 6-10PM

Remember the Future is a brand-new piece of work by Mark Murphy that explores how past visions of the future look to us now.

How do they inform or surprise us?

The works combine images from vintage found-print to explore ideas around possible future technology, society, culture and the built and natural environment creating large-scale digital collages. To accompany the twelve works, Murphy created a bespoke soundtrack that is projected at scale on New Street, Corn Market, Worcester.

The Arches Worcester Festivals are bringing back their highly successful Light Night festival in October 2021. Unlike many light festivals, that buy work off the shelf, Light Night Worcester 2021 features four brand new large-scale projections created specifically for Worcester, transforming buildings in the city centre; whilst playful performances light up the surrounding streets.

International and award-winning artists and organisations–imitating the dog, Illuminos, Limbic Cinema and Mark Murphy–have created works that will premiere at the festival.

The free festival branches out from the city centre with Lullaby, where at dusk, a parade of bikes decorated with lights bring a brand-new surround sound composition, created by local school children with composer Andy Taylor, to Ronkswood, Dines Green and Warndon.
