COLLAGE ON VIEW

Collage Works: Thompson | Corre | Taler

at Studio Sixty Six in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
26 April-2 June 2019

“Collage Works” presents the work of Amy Thompson, Kristina Corre, and Laura Taler.

The art of collage transcends the obvious reading of an image by juxtaposing and or layering a wide array of iconography, often in a range of different mediums to create narratives that are not possible in the physical world.

Collage has been an important part of the evolution of modern and contemporary art throughout the 20th century. The French term collage was coined by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, who both made use of collage techniques in their Cubist paintings; collage was also popular among the artists of the Dada movement in the 1920’s. Once again, collage art has become increasingly popular and complex.

The three Ottawa-based artists in “Collage Works” handle this iconic medium in new and inventive ways, presenting their individual and fresh perspectives in collage making.
