Collagerie 2012
Collagerie celebrates collage art and the individual styles of contemporary artists using traditional cut and paste techniques. Collage art is very much an underground practice and Collagerie’s aim is to give collagists from around the world a unique platform to unite and showcase their individual styles.
Curators Evangelisa Zoylinos & Kirsty Newman, both graduates of the Norwich School of Arts, collage artists and current members of STEW Gallery, were interested in creating a stage for the incredible depth of collage art that is out there, but hidden, particularly on the Internet. Both believe it is appropriate for such a movement to be showcased in an actively artistic city such as Norwich, which historically was particularly influential in the late 1800s, when the Norwich school of painters group met monthly to discuss new work, ideas and methods within the arts. Now, through Collagerie 2012, the curators seek to recreate that sense of discourse within the local artist community by connecting them with collage artists worldwide.
