Emily Denlinger: Gain of Function: New Mutation

at the Crisp Museum at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA
4 October-16 December 2024

Emily Denlinger’s collage artwork explores the human condition: issues of identity, survival, truth, and power. In this installation, Denlinger shares her work New Mutations/Old Traditions, part of her “Gain of Function: New Mutation” series. The expansive collage is an exploration of masked traditions that take place around the world, as simultaneous inventions, to invite positivity into a community and expel negative forces. “Gain of Function: New Mutation” is an ongoing series created in response to research surrounding the intersections of ecology, simulations, mutations, and futurology.
