Mary A. Decuzzi: Lei, Cromatica (She, Cromatic)

at Teco in Palermo, Italy
24 February-24 March 2024

Cities inspire different colour schemes. In Sicily, the blues, greens, yellows, oranges, browns and beiges created this series of collages which express the spirit of the island in different hues. Through the perspective of the female body, Mary A. Decuzzi presents new shapes, textures, natural elements and fully covered surfaces in twenty original handmade pieces created with fashion magazines from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and today. Colour lovers are welcome!

Decuzzi is a collage artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina currently living in Sicily. She holds a degree in Arts from the University of Buenos Aires. For years she worked in the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires producing festivals and events for the most important arts, music and cultural venues.

As a fan of trends, in 2016 she attended the Cross-Discipline Trend Forecasting course at Central Saint Martins College in London. That same year she personally assisted the American photographer David LaChapelle during his visit to Buenos Aires for the opening of the exhibition “Photographs 1984-2013” and his collage art work Make love, not war. Decuzzi currently works between Argentina and Italy, also writing and developing content for @futurismica_lab, a platform to inspire creative ecosystems and think about the future of the arts.
