Susan Smereka: re:shape
at the South Burlington Public Art Gallery in South Burlington, Vermont, USA
12 February-26 March 2026
“re:shape” is a solo exhibition by Susan Smereka exploring memory, place, and the body through reclaimed materials and layered processes. Using worn textiles, stained paper, topographical maps of Vermont, and employing techniques such as monotype printmaking, collage, and sewing, Smereka transforms fragments marked by time into new visual languages. Her work invites viewers to consider how past and present intersect, creating new forms that emerge from memory and material.
Susan Smereka is a Canadian-American artist whose career spans more than four decades. She was born outside Toronto, Ontario, and has lived in Vermont for over thirty-five years. Duality, as both a tension and a concept, has long been central to her life and artistic practice.

The exhibition was curated by Maedeh Asgharpour.
