Chris Siron: “Uncanny Remnant”
2-31 October 2015

Chris Siron is particularly enthusiastic about collage and multi-media. In addition to his visual art practice, Siron has been interested in music and sound and has been a member of improvisational bands including The Spanish Apes and Flash Gordon’s Ape. He has made several cut-out and stop-motion animations. His collages and photographs have been published in Throttle, C.O.R.E., and Pannus Index. His recent work is an animation addressing bird deaths due to building collisions.

DC-native Chris Siron followed the painting and printmaking curriculum in the Fine Arts Department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He also completed courses in animation at the Children’s Museum in Washington DC, and photography at The Corcoran School of the Arts. Siron works at the National Gallery of Art bookshop and lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

“Uncanny Remnant” was curated by Eric Denker, Senior Lecturer, National Gallery of Art.

The opening reception takes place Friday, 2 October, 6:30-8:30PM.
