Collage Continues Its Prominence in London

Interior II by Richard Hamilton

During 2013, Kolaj Magazine reported on several collage exhibitions in London, including Ellen Gallagher’s “AxME” at Tate Modern, Robert Motherwell’s collage and “A Century of Collage” at Bernard Jacobson Gallery, three collage-focused shows at The Photographers’ Gallery, and a major Kurt Schwitters retrospective at Tate Britain.

Two exhibitions in early 2014 bring two major European collage artists, Hannah Höch (1889-1978) at Whitechapel Gallery and Richard Hamilton (1922-2011) at Tate Modern, to the fore. A third exhibition, open only the 5th through the 8th of February, brings together the work of 25 collagistes from around the world at Marylebone Gardens in “Return to Splendour”.

The Kolaj Magazine Artist Directory currently has seven UK collage artists, including Jacob Cozens, Cameron Scott, Deborah Essés, John Washington, Ewan Aparicio, Ben West, and Alex Daw. Visit the Artist Directory and learn more about these contemporary British collage artists and collage artists from around the world.
