The question of when a work is a collage and when it is a painting is a good one to consider when viewing Shari Epstein’s work. She maintains a delicate balance between the two and operates at the intersection of collage and painting. An eagle soars through a blue sky scene populated with moments of red, pink, orange, and the tawny colours of old paper.

A portfolio of Shari Epstein’s work appears in KOLAJ #27.
